“Heart disease will always feel intimidating, but because of my advocate, I now know I’m doing everything I can to get the best care possible.”

Heart disease ran in Julia’s family, and she needed help making sense of her diagnosis.

Julia wasn't surprised when she was diagnosed with heart disease at 63, but she was afraid of what the diagnosis meant for her future.

She knew heart disease was serious and had lots of questions, but she felt like her doctors weren't taking her questions seriously—and when she did get answers, she didn't always understand them fully.

Julia lives alone. She doesn't drive and has relied on her daughter to help her run weekly errands and take care of thing around the house—but she knew that this diagnosis meant more doctor’s visits, lifestyle changes, and even more pressure on her daughter, who already lived nearly 40 miles away.

That’s why she contacted Solace.

Julia’s advocate got to work creating a care plan that would get Julia the care and support she needed.

Her advocate worked closely with a new cardiologist and her primary care physician to set up regular telehealth appointments.

When Julia was overwhelmed by complicated medical terminology, her advocate helped her understand by translating medical notes into easy-to-process language.

When Julia's insurance denied a claim that should have been a routine approval, her advocate took charge of communications with the insurance plan and successfully won the appeal.

These days, Julia's advocate is on call whenever she needs to discuss treatments or has a question about her care plan. Mostly, her advocate is there to listen to any concern and solve any problem, big or small. She has encouraged Julia to keep a health journal, which they review together to find pain points and discuss ways to overcome them.

A stable support system has made a world of difference for Julia's mental health during a difficult diagnosis. Now when her daughter comes over, they're able to enjoy spending time together without worrying about her healthcare. Her Solace advocate has it covered.
