Pearl's Story
“When it felt like my mom was losing everything, Solace was there was to give us peace of mind. She was so kind and gentle with Mom. She’s been an amazing support system for all of us.”
Pearl came to Solace experiencing memory concerns.
Pearl is 76 years old. For the past year, she's been misplacing her keys and getting lost while driving, which led to a growing concern for potential Alzheimer's.
During her latest doctor’s visit, she reported feeling rushed and neglected. Her adult children were struggling to help her, and she no longer trusted her own judgment when it came to her health.
Pearl is very health-conscious and has kept a food diary for years, but when her concerns were brushed off by a doctor, she felt helpless.
That’s when Pearl found Solace.
Pearl’s first conversation with her advocate lasted over an hour.
Together, they reviewed her health diary and compiled a holistic understanding of her symptoms. Pearl’s advocate then spoke with her primary care provider and helped facilitate a more productive visit.
The advocate secured a referral to a neurologist for memory issues, made an appointment within two weeks, and sent kind reminders. During visits, she was on speakerphone to make sure that Pearl felt comfortable and heard by her care team.
Pearl’s advocate also held family meetings to educate and support Pearl’s children on their mom’s care.
Through consistent support, the advocate earned Pearl's trust and made sure she received comprehensive, compassionate care during and after her Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
