Robert's Story
“When my wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, I felt totally lost. Our advocate has helped me regain control and given me the tools I need to help her.”
Robert needed help caring for his wife, recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
Robert's wife Sandra had been recently diagnosed with the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Neither of them had nearby family, and the diagnosis was overwhelming for them both.
Sandra had once managed the household's every detail. Now, she would need constant care. Robert was grieving the life they both had imagined, but he deeply wanted to care for her—and he had no idea where to start.
He needed help deciphering insurance coverage, managing Sandra's appointments, understanding her diagnosis, and keeping his environment safe for them to continue living at home.
That’s when he turned to Solace.
Their Solace advocate gave Robert the assurance he needed.
Robert and Sandra met their advocate on a video call, where the advocate developed an easy-to-follow care plan that included regular doctor’s visits, home safety systems, medication management, and a daily routine. Their advocate also researched their insurance coverage and scheduled an appointment with a local in-network dietician to help create healthy meal plans.
Every week, their advocate calls to check in and see how things are going. He connected Robert to a local caregiver support group and continues to be a listening ear for any new concerns or changes in Sandra's health.
Because of their advocate, Robert is able to focus less on Sandra's diagnosis and spend more quality time with his beloved wife.
